Honey Bush tea (Cyclopia Intermedia)
Honey Bush tea (Cyclopia Intermedia) is probably the most under rated, and least known health beverage. It is harvested from the wild in the mountainous regions of South Africa. The plant is harvested, according to tradition, during the flowering period in the months of September and October. The bushes are easily recognized by the masses of deep-yellow flowers that emit a sweet honey aroma, hence the name.
Honey Bush tea is widely popular in that its is low in tannins and contains no caffeine.
Each cup contains healthy anti-oxidents, along with minerals such as: Calcium, Copper, Iron, Potassium, Magnesium, Manganese and Zinc.
This herb is said to have positive effects in preventing breast, prostate, and uterine cancer; reducing the risk of osteoporosis; having anti-fungal and anti-viral properties; lowering cholesterol levels, and much more.
As a result, it had a reputation as a calming beverage, though the specific sedative properties have not been identified yet. It also has a low content of tannins, so it doesn't make a highly astringent tea, which can be a problem with some grades of black or green tea or when ordinary tea is steeped too long.
Honeybush has all the benefits of Rooibos with a flavor that is similar to Rooibos but slightly sweeter.
Deliciously easy to make Steep 1 tsp/ cup of boiling water for 3-5 minutes.
Drink it hot or cold, with or without milk, sugar or honey.Add lemon or mix it with fruit juices for a lovely blend.
In order to produce the sweetest flavor our Honeybush is hand harvested during the peak flowering season.
