Steam distilled from the flowers and leaves. The name derives from the inherent quality of the species of the sage plant - mystically called the \\\'diviners\\\' of the plant kingdom. Scent: grounding and herbaceous. Uses: Deeply relaxing. May be helpful to reduce melancholy and stress, and relieve tension. Also thought to reduce symptoms associated with PMS and menopause. The essential oil clary sage is used for its antidepressant, antiseptic, deodorant, digestive and sedative properties. In aromatherapy mixtures it is blended with atlas cedarwood, bergamot, cypress, geranium, jasmine, lavender, and lime. Action: Sedative, hormonal balancer, soothing, relaxing. Reduces menstrual cramps, PMS and menopausal hot flashes. Adrenal stimulant. Used for anxiety states, panic attacks and paranoia. Rejuvenates skin cells, calms the complexion and reduces dandruff. Considered by some to contain aphrodisiac qualities. Possible skin irritant. Avoid use during pregnancy and also avoid use after consuming alcohol as it may exaggerate the effects of alcohol. |
